Endurance Bikes

A road bike with the sharp edges taken off. Endurance frames sit you a little higher and a little further back than a race bike, run a longer wheelbase and take a wider tyre, usually with gearing that makes more sense when the road tilts up at the end of a long day. For most riders on Scottish roads it is the honest answer, and it is the biggest part of our road range.

The performance gap has all but closed. An endurance bike will hold its own in a fast group ride, and the extra clearance and slightly calmer handling are worth more on a broken surface than a few watts of drag. Think of it as a road bike with versatility and comfort added rather than speed taken away.

Scott make up the bulk of the range here with the Addict, and Cervélo cover it with the Caledonia and Caledonia-5. Pinarello Dogma X and the X Series bring the same thinking with an Italian accent, and there is Argon 18 and Merida alongside them.

If you want the low front end and the stiffest frame, look at race bikes instead. If your riding takes you onto rougher surfaces than tarmac, gravel bikes are worth a look before you decide.
