Touring Bikes

A touring bike is built to carry weight over distance, day after day. Relaxed geometry so you can stay on it for eight hours, gearing low enough for a loaded climb, mounts for racks, guards and as many bottles as you can fit, and usually a steel frame, because steel takes a beating and can be repaired almost anywhere in the world.

We have none in stock at the moment. The Genesis Tour de Fer has been the one we sell most of and we expect it back. Use the notify me button on the product pages, or drop us a line and we will tell you when it lands.

In the meantime a gravel bike covers a good deal of the same ground. Most of them take a rack and full mudguards, clear a wide tyre and are noticeably quicker on the road. If your touring is credit card rather than fully loaded, that is often the better answer anyway.

If you are planning something specific, come and talk to us. Loaded touring asks things of a bike that no spec sheet shows, and getting the gearing and the luggage right matters a good deal more than the frame does.
