Kickstands

Unfashionable and genuinely useful. If your bike spends its life being loaded, unloaded and propped against things, a kickstand saves scratched paint and knocked-over bikes.

Most fit at the chainstay plate behind the bottom bracket; double-leg stands hold the bike upright and steady, which is what you want when you are loading panniers or a child seat.

Check the fitting suits your frame. Some carbon and full-suspension bikes have no mounting point at all.
