Marin

Named after the county north of San Francisco where a few people spent the late seventies throwing old cruisers down a fire road called Repack, and invented mountain biking more or less by accident. Marin have been building bikes since 1986. The range has widened a long way since, into gravel and flat bar city bikes, but the mountain bikes are still the centre of it.

Off road, the Bolinas Ridge is the straightforward hardtail and the sensible first proper mountain bike. The Bobcat Trail moves up on parts and geometry. The Rift Zone is the full suspension trail bike, in 27.5 and 29 inch wheels.

On drop bars the Gestalt is the gravel bike, equally content on a canal path or a fire road. On flat bars the Kentfield is the easy one to live with, in standard and step through frames, the Presidio is the tidier city bike, and the DSX is the quick one, a flat bar bike with gravel tyre clearance for anyone who wants to leave the tarmac without changing bike.

Every bike is built and checked by our mechanics before it leaves. If you are not sure whether you want the hardtail or the full suspension, come and sit on both.
