The Scott Fastlane is what we range here. From a few feet away it reads as a road bike, and it handles like one, with the assistance there when the road tilts up rather than constantly doing the work for you.

Assistance cuts out at 15.5mph under UK law, so on the flat you are riding the bike. What it changes is the climbs and the headwind, and how you feel at the end of four hours. That is usually the difference between riding with people who are quicker than you and gradually stopping bothering.

If you want the assistance for commuting rather than for sport, the electric hybrid range is the better place to look, and the road bikes page has everything without a motor.
