Genesis Gravel Bikes

Genesis were making adventure bikes before adventure bikes were a thing. Steel frames, clearance for a proper tyre, and mounts for everything you might want to bolt on. These are bikes people take round the world and then keep riding to work afterwards, which tells you most of what you need to know.

The Croix de Fer is the original do-it-all gravel bike and still the benchmark. Reynolds steel, room for luggage and mudguards, and a spread of builds from the 20 up to the 50 that changes the groupset and the wheels rather than the character of the bike. There is a flat bar version too if you would rather not be on drops.

The CDA shares the geometry and handling but uses a lighter aluminium frame with a steel fork, which keeps the comfort where you feel it most, through the hands and wrists. It is the sensible way into the range.
