Exposure

Designed and built in Britain, with the battery inside the light rather than in a separate pack you have to find room for. Everything sits in a machined aluminium body, which is most of the reason they cost what they do and most of the reason they last.

The names on the box do real things, and they are worth understanding before you choose. ReAKT adjusts the output to the light around you and flares up under braking. Peloton dims a rear light when it senses the light of the rider behind, so you are not blinding whoever is tucked in right behind you. DayBright is the daytime flash pattern. AKTIV dips a front beam when it picks up oncoming headlights, the way a car does. TAP changes mode with a knock on the light or on your helmet instead of hunting for a button in the dark.

Which one you want comes down to the job. The Sirius and the Strada are front lights that throw a beam down the road, the Strada with a road specific pattern and a lot of side visibility. The Diablo is the off road one, light enough at 188g to live on a helmet so the beam goes where you look. The Blaze is a rear light, and the Trace and TraceR pair covers both ends in one box if you are starting from nothing.

Exposure put a traffic light charge gauge on them, so you find out what is left before you set off rather than halfway home. Run times are quoted as a range because the mode you pick changes them enormously.

If you are not sure how much light you need, tell us where you ride and when.
